"Where do we start?"
- A Question that Puzzled Us, but one that God answered for Us!
- John 16:24
"Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full."
inspired by the semblance in their history, Pastor Emmanuel (Emmy) and Sarah Nnyanzi founded Parental Care Ministries! Both were raised by step mothers under very difficult and torturous environments and with no hope for the future.
After finding Christ, immediately after their wedding they started to move door to door doing evangelism. While there; they found multiple children that were hopeless, this reminded them of their own childhood. Their hearts were broken, and this got them praying that God would send someone able and willing to help these children. They didn't see themselves worth enough to take care of these children because they too were struggling to provide care for their children.
As they kept praying, Pastor Emmy felt a question inside of him;
"When you were a child, suffering in the clasp of your step mum, did you cry out of lack for basic needs or rather the lack for Love? "
- He answered to himself!
"I cried out of the lack for Love!"
Then a voice asked again;
"What then makes you think these children are crying out of the lack for basic needs? Why not try giving your Love and see if that won't bring a smile to their faces!"
He shared this vision with his wife and they both prayed about it. They then agreed to usher these children into their small home, they shared the little they had with these children and all they gave to them was their Love. That was the birth of Parental Care Ministries -
God gave this couple a house and a car as a gift through a contact from the UK, everyone was happy to move into a new house with greater space, but to this couple; they saw an opportunity to bring in even more children that needed love and shelter.
In this new two roomed house, were about about 12 children under their care. Later when the Lord provided a 3 bedroomed house; equally the number of children increased to 45. However, there was the need to provide these children with an education. Paying school fees was a challenge as it is very expensive, Pastor Emmy and Sarah decided to sell their car and house to start up a school since they are both teachers.
This is what many of us would call a crazy test of faith as running a school calls for even more responsibilities and expenditures.
Without an income, how was this to be realised! Truthfully, all that mattered to this couple was to see these children happy. The beginning was full of various challenges to include insufficiency of food and all other resources necessary for the wellbeing of the children. They however kept the faith as the joy on these children's faces was even more enriching and that motivated them to keep on. This resilience saw the children gain hope and peace of mind and further saw them attain a sense of belonging as a result of the parental love they received.
This is the heart of Parental Care Ministries, We started it with Love!
